PM: Complete 'Little India' by November

KUALA LUMPUR – Make sure the "Little India" project in Brickfields is up and running by November.
This is the Prime Minister's directive to Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin, the Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister.If it is not ready by then, Raja Nong Chik and those involved in the project will have a lot of explaining to do, says Najib.He wants the project to be rushed to completion ahead of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's (pic) visit to Malaysia in November to coincide with the launch of Little India. He views the project as an important milestone to establish closer ties with his Indian counterpart.



The project, undertaken by Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), involves Jalan Travers and Jalan Tun Sambanthan and will be carried out in two phases with the total cost amounting to RM35mil.
KL and Chennai as twin cities

Raja Nong Chik had recently said that once the project was completed, Kuala Lumpur and Chennai in India would become twin cities.The project, undertaken by Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB), involves Jalan Travers and Jalan Tun Sambanthan and will be carried out in two phases with the total cost amounting to RM35mil.Speaking at the opening the Sri Murugan Centre (SMC) at the Vivekananda Secondary School in Brickfields here, Najib also said that Malaysia needed proper implementation, coordination and execution of programmes to ensure the nation could compete globally.To achieve that, all Malaysians must be united and work together, he said, adding that the government would continue to increase allocations for all communities.
