Be patient and wait for the trial, police tell Aminulrasyid's family

Wed, 26 May 2010 22:09 SHAH ALAM: Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar has urged the family of Aminulrasyid Amzah, 15, the teenager who was shot dead on April 26, to be patient and wait for the trial of the case. He said the family would have their say, through their lawyer, during the trial.

"I don't want to comment on this case because it has already been brought up to the court. The family should be patient and wait until the trial is up," he told reporters after opening an anti-crime seminar here today.
He was asked to comment on the police report lodged by Aminulrasyid's family at the Bukit Aman police headquarters today following police refusal to apologise for calling the teenager a robber.Aminulrasyid was fatally shot after a car chase in Section 11 here at about 2am.A policeman, Corp Jenain Subi, 48, was charged in the Sessions Court here on May 10 with causing the death of the teenager. He claimed trial.
On the crime rate in Selangor, Khalid said, there were 19,000 cases recorded so far this year compared with 21,000 cases during the same period last year."This is a 10% decrease and this is certainly a good development," he said.Among areas with high crime rates were Klang, Shah Alam, Ampang, Kajang, Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya, he said.
