Barcelona prepared for long Fabregas chase

Barcelona have again chosen to comment on their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas, admitting that it could take most of the summer before they are successful in their chase.
Fabregas has already told the Gunners he wants to return to the club where he began his career, but Arsenal are desperate to hold on to their captain.

On Tuesday, Barcelona confirmed their presidential elections will take place on June 13. And at the same time director general Joan Oliver stated that while Barca had yet to make a formal bid for Fabregas, he remains central to their transfer plans.
"There is no offer yet," Oliver stated on Barca's official website. "It's true the player has expressed his wish to play for Barca, perhaps this coming season."We have had first contacts with Arsenal in which we made known our intention to talk and that's the current situation.
"We are not in any hurry and you never know how long these operations can take. There is no time-frame. The period is from today and until the deadline for registering players at the end of August."
The player's father, also called Francesc, insisted that his son will definitely play for Barca next season. He said: "Arsenal have to respect the decision and the will of the player. Negotiations between Arsenal and Barcelona will be very long. Both sides are going to have to sit several times because the issue is complicated."Cesc is now focused on the Spanish team but he wants is to close the signing soon. He has always responded to Arsène Wenger with his work and we are also grateful to Arsenal because they made my son a great player. We just want this to end soon.
"At the moment has a contract with Arsenal. I get the feeling that the English club do not want to sell but in the end will finally give in and let Cesc go."
In the meantime Barcelona have embarked upon a sustained media campaign and on Tuesday club captain Carles Puyol described Fabregas as "perfect'' for the Catalan giants
Puyol, speaking at a press conference with Spain, said: "Cesc is an excellent player and a great friend. For me, he would be perfect for Barcelona. I would love to see him with the azulgrana, but we need to respect that he has a contract with his club.
"It's very unusual to see Cesc nervous, but all this is a little problematic for him, because it's a matter that is being talked about daily and he has fans, a coach and team-mates that he needs to respect.''
