We don't need a DPM II, says Umno leader

Umno Supreme Council member Saifuddin Abdullah said the country's present system of administration has been effective without requiring a second deputy prime minister.
He said Malaysia, with a population of about 27 million, did not need to reate the post as the parliamentary democratic system had been accepted by the country's multiracial society without any problems.

Saifuddin, who is also Higher Education Deputy Minister, said this to reporters after closing the "Moh Desa Perwira" volunteer programme of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia at Kampung Bangau Parit, Temerloh, today.
"Anwar (Ibrahim) is out of touch with reality and is a racist as he will go to the extent of creating a special post to win the support of the Chinese community which could drive others to demand for the same post for their own community."Hence, the people must defend the current system of administration and not be taken in by the political gimmick of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor who is trying to draw public attention and support for the opposition pact," he said.Saifuddin said Anwar purposely created this cheap political gimmick of promising the second prime minister post for the DAP if the opposition wins the 13th general election as "he is desperate to obtain sympathy votes from DAP supporters" although the promise would be difficult to fulfil. "The people who are smarter now in assessing the political scenario should not be duped by Anwar's covert game as he is willing to forego his principles and do anything, including making various promises to the people, to achieve his political ambition," he added.
