Umno accused of backing Mugilan

May 22, 10 4:47pm

MIC Youth secretary C Sivarraajh has called on Prime Minister Najib Razak to investigate rebel leader V Mugilan's claim that he has the financial backing of Umno for his GAS (Anti-Samy Vellu Movement) campaign.“When canvassing for support, he told our members that they were given RM3 million from Umno for this campaign," said Sivaraajh at a press conference today."I am requesting the prime minister as Umno president to clarify this claim," he said, adding that he does not truly buy this claim.Sivarraajh also requested all BN leaders outside MIC to let the party resolve its issues internally, and not interfere in the infighting.
According the MIC leader, those behind the Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) have no right to question others' contributions while they themselves have nothing to show since being elected to their posts.

Sivarraajh also said it was Mugilan - not party boss S Samy Vellu as alleged by the sacked MIC Youth chief - who had caused BN to lose votes during the recent Hulu Selangor by-election. Speaking at a 'counter-press conference' following the launch of GAS by Mugilan and MIC central working committee member G Kumar Aman's earlier today, Sivarraajh said told the "two jokers to shut their mouths” since they had long been silent on Samy Vellu's purported shortcomings.“Why didn't they bring GAS or 'BOMB' or anything like this (the movement they launched) when they were first elected?” asked Sivarraajh. “People like these are the type who will sell the dignity of the community for their own purposes,” he said.
Mugilan sabotaged Hulu Selangor campaign

Sivarraajh also backed allegations that Mugilan had sabotaged the Hulu Selangor campaign, especially in "his area of Kerling where we lost big".At one point, Mugilan - who was backed by certain Umno leader - was seen as a potential candidate for the by-election which was eventually won by MIC's P Kamalanathan.
"(Samy Vellu) is not the only factor that BN and MIC is weak. Other issues like pro-BN independent MP Ibrahim Ali's racist statements are also a factor," he said calling on Najib to "shut (Ibrahim's) mouth" as well.
Sivaraajh also defended Youth chief T Mohan, who was absent at today's press conference due to prior engagements, saying that "no one can challenge" Mohan, whom he said had contributed heavily to Indian youths in Malaysia. He added that Vel Paari's appointment to the MIC powerful central working committee was justified because he has the ability to contribute and that the son of the party boss had chose not to contest to make way for others.
