KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Youth secretary C Sivarraajh lodged a police report against Gerakan Anti-SamyVellu (GAS) at the Sentul police station, claiming that it's an illegal and unregistered body.
He urged the police not to grant permit to GAS for its gathering scheduled for May 30 at PWTC.
“Its organisers have been sending out SMSes, inviting people to support its call for MIC president S Samy Vellu to step down as president immediately.“I believe the SMSes being sent out are seditious as it involves plans to topple a democratically elected party president,” said Sivarraajh.
According to former deputy youth chief V Mugilan who launched GAS on Saturday, the movement is gaining support since the sacking of two CWC members, KP Samy and Kumar Aamaan. In a related matter, Sivarraajh said that CWC member Vell Paari's allegation that Umno was behind GAS was made in his personal capacity and it did not reflect MIC's stand.Vell Paari accused Umno of supporting GAS to “ kill off Samy Vellu politically”. However, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and several Umno leaders scoffed at his allegation. When asked what MIC will do if GAS indeed had Umno's blessings, Sivarraajh said if it is proven true, it will be going against the spirit of the Barisan Nasional coalition.
“We may need to review our stand in the ruling coalition,” he said.
