Several PKR leaders told The Malaysian Insider that they were merely waiting for the “green light” from the top leadership to launch their attacks during the party’s sixth national congress in Kota Baru.
“We are heading there, [we’re] now just waiting for the green light from (PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim on when and who should reveal the secrets... maybe during the sixth national congress... perhaps it could be Anwar himself or other senior party leaders,” said one party leader who declined to be named as the party was still mulling its strategy.
PKR has lost 10 lawmakers since Election 2008, including one it sacked for indiscipline. It also lost the Hulu Selangor seat in a by-election last month.“The party has been very patient and now the time has come for us to explain to the delegates what really happened.
“We will expose all the rewards that they have received and the exposé will be done through several avenues that will prove the reasons for their endless criticisms on the party leadership and why they wanted to leave us,” the leader explained.According to the leader, the exposé will focus on the five former PKR MPs who recently left the party to become independents, and possibly on efforts by Barisan Nasional to fish for yet another MP.The five MPs that have exited PKR are Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim (Bayan Baru), Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal), Zulkifli Noordin (Kulim-Bandar Baharu), Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju) and Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri (Bagan Serai).Besides the five, PKR has also lost five state assemblymen — two from Kedah, two from Perak and one from Selangor. Excluding Zulkifli, who was sacked from PKR for crossing swords with the party leadership, the four MPs had left citing their dissatisfaction with the party leadership and Pakatan Rakyat.During a Parliamentary debate last month, Zahrain had taken the opportunity to reveal details on Anwar’s purported government takeover plan on Sept 16, 2008, while Zukifli divulged how he had been asked to link Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, to the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaaribuu four years agoFollowing their stunning revelations, Najib himself said he had spoken with the duo on the party’s secrets during their trip to Washington recently.The PKR congress is expected to discuss plans on how to address the problem of defections when it meets in Kota Baru this weekend.Last week, PKR elections director Fuziah Salleh had given a one-month notice to those who wanted to leave the party to do so before PKR’s rebranding exercise after the congress.
