PETALING JAYA: Will MIC president S Samy Vellu sack his son S Vell Paari and Youth leader T Mohan for alleging that Umno was behind Gerak Anti Samyvellu (GAS)?Embattled former MIC deputy Youth leader V Mugilan posed this question at a press conference here today.
Mugilan, who has mobilised the movement to call for Samy Vellu to step down, said: “ MIC must sack Vell Paari and Mohan because both of them accused Umno of masterminding and being behind GAS.
“Over the past two days, both of them have made stupid, provocative statements against Umno. They sound like they are anti-Umno and anti-Malay,” he said.
In a stinging rebuke, deputy Umno president Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday labelled Vell Paari an “insolent son of Samy Vellu” and said Umno had nothing to do with MIC’s internal strive.
Rumours are rife that Mugilan’s brazenness is a result of his link to higher powers in Umno.
Meanwhile, at the press conference, Mugilan reiterated that Umno was not involved.“I am the GAS coordinator and I want to reiterate that Umno is not helping us in anyway.“We have a relationship between parties in the Barisan Nasional. We must abide by the code of conduct.“We cannot condemn our coalition partner. It is very unhealthy.
“Now that his son and relation (Mohan) have been rude (to Umno), what action will he take? Will he sack them the way he did the thousands of MIC members over the last 30 years?" he asked, adding that it was time that Malaysians got an honest insight into Samy Vellu. When asked about the booking of the PWTC hall for the rally against Samy Vellu, Mugilan said the venue was booked for the “official launch of GAS”.
He said he had booked the hall himself on May 24 with an initial payment of RM5,000.‘I have a receipt to proof this. I booked the hall myself,” he said.Mugilan was refuting Mohan’s allegation that the venue was booked under Umno’s name. Also present at the press conference today were sacked central working committee members K Palanisamy, better known as KP Samy and G Kumar Amman.
