PETALING JAYA: Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) leader V Mugilan has claimed that someone hacked into his Facebook account and posted a comment linking him to Umno.
The sacked MIC Youth deputy chief will lodge a report with the Dang Wangi district police headquarters this afternoon.Contacted by FMT, Mugilan said he discovered that his account had been hacked this morning.“Someone has been using my account to post those messages.
I will be lodging a report around 2.30pm... I have to do something,” he added. One of the postings read: "Jangan takut Umno sentiasa bersama kita dan mereka berjanji akan bersama kita sehingga kita mencapai matlamat GAS. Saya amat terhutang budi kepada Umno yang bersama saya sekian lama. Hidup Umno! Hidup BN! Hidup GAS! Satu Malaysia. Terima kasih kepada semua." [see below]
(Do not be afraid, Umno is always with us and they have promised to be with us until we achieve the objective of GAS, I am indebted to Umno for being with me all this while. Long live Umno! Long live BN! Long live GAS! One Malaysia. Thank you all.)
Another posting stated: "Sesiapa yang support GAS.Tolong keluar dari MIC sebelum Samy Vellu pecat anda. Biar kita keluar nanti kita lihat apa Samy Vellu buat.” (Anyone who supports GAS. Please get out of MIC before Samy Vellu fires you. Let us see what he will do then).
Since the onset of the GAS campaign, detractors, including Samy Vellu's son Vell Paari, have claimed that Umno's fingerprints are all over the scene.
Vell Paari went to the extent of describing Mugilan, who is known to share close ties with certain Umno leaders, as a “political assassin” hired by Umno to oust the MIC president.
Vell Paari later apologised after Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak told him that Umno was not involved in the GAS campaign.
'Missing' GAS leader
Meanwhile, Mugilan described the hacking of his Facebook account as a serious matter. "This is very serious because it is not what I said. This is no good for me, us, for GAS.”As for the “missing” GAS leader who was supposed to bring some 5,000 supporters to yesterday's rally, Mugilan said he is still looking for him.
Yesterday, Mugilan said that he suspects the Penang-based leader could have been “kidnapped”.
"I will continue tracing him and then I will decide by 2.30pm on what to do. It is really strange, I am still trying to call him and even this morning, I still could not contact him,” he added. The GAS rally yesterday failed to live up to expectations when only more than 3,000 turned up while the organiser's target was 15,000.
