Aminulrasyid's sister disputes police claims

The elder sister of shooting victim Aminulrasyid Amzah today disputed claims by the police that the deceased had a parang (machete) in the car at the time of his death. Nor Azura (middle in photo), 40, also denied that Aminulrasyid had tried to reverse the car into the police during the April 26 incident.
She was quizzed on both matters when she had her statement recorded at the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters this afternoon.
“She told the police that the car could not have reversed as Aminulrasyid was shot (dead), but his foot was still on the accelerator and the car moved forward, hitting a wall, and not backwards,” said Nadiah Fikri, Azamuddin's lawyer.Nadiah adds that Nor Azura also told the police that neither she nor Aminulrasyid owned a parang. Nor Azura was called up by the police to have her statements recorded over the shooting. She had earlier lodged a police report claiming that the authorities were attempting to cover up the incident. Nor Azura was among three individuals who were called to Bukit Aman to have their statements recorded. Two others are key witness to the shooting: Azamuddin Omar and his elder brother Mohd Hafizzuddin. This was the fourth time Azamuddin has been quizzed by the police over the incident.

Azamuddin quizzed 4th time

Hafizzuddin was today questioned about Azamuddin's claims that the police had beaten him up as he tried to surrender, after Aminulrasyid was shot. Mohd Hafizzuddin (in orange) lodged a police report last week, claiming that the police had attempted to kill Azamuddin, pointing a gun at him. “(Hafizzuddin) recounted Azamuddin's statement that he was beaten up even after he tried to surrender himself,” said lawyer N Surendran. Meanwhile, Surendran said Azamuddin (wearing cap) was questioned on the same issue and how he tried to escape from the police.According to Surendran, the police are investigating Mohd Hafizzuddin's police report filed under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which pertains to voluntarily causing hurt. Later, Surendran reiterated demands for action to be taken against the Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar for publicly claiming that Aminulrasyid was a “suspected criminal” who possessed a machete and tried to run over police personnel. “Why is the state police chief still in power after making a false statement about an innocent 15-year-old?,” he asked.
