Toll charge on NPE's PJS booth reduced

The toll rate at the Petaling Jaya Selatan 2 (PJS 2) toll plaza along the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) near Kampung Medan, Petaling Jaya will be reduced from RM1.60 to RM1 effective 12.01am tomorrow. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in his speech at the 'Pesta Chap Goh Mei' at the Selangor state level and the presentation of donations organised by the Selangor BN at the Padang Taman Dato' Hormat PJS 10 in Petaling Jaya today.Najib said the government had promised to do the best for the people and this was one of the examples in line with the 1Malaysia concept.

"This is another example that we will do the best for the people of Selangor and Malaysia," he said to loud applause from about 2,500 people at the gathering. In February 2009, the government had announced that the toll collection at the PJS 2 toll plaza on the NPE for Kuala Lumpur-bound motorists would be abolished.

The New Pantai Expressway stretching 19.5 kilometers was opened on April 30, 2004.The RM1.2 billion expressway was managed by the concession company New Pantai Express Way Sdn Bhd. About 2,500 people from the various races attended the function and almost 650 people comprising senior citizens, single mothers and the handicapped received ang pows.In his speech, the prime minister said the BN government would continue to champion the cause of all Malaysians based on the principles of social justice.

'BN gave much more than the opposition'

"As a government, we not only respect the diversity in cultures, religions and languages but we also uphold the principles of the people first, based on social justice," Najib said. For example, Najib said the government had utilised an allocation of RM1.2 billion for the various programmes to assist the poor including the abject poor and the low-income groups including senior citizens, single mothers and the handicapped.
Najib said the RM1.2 billion allocation was most substantial, but people sometimes did not appreciate when the allocation given was massive. The opposition gave RM100 and broadcast it to everyone in the village, we (BN government) gave much more than the opposition. This is the BN government," Najib said.

"This is because we don't waste time in administering the country. We don't quarrel for no reason. We don't leave the party like a certain political party. We don't call for a special session of the state legislative assembly which we know will be futile."This is not something that will benefit the rakyat, this is a waste of effort merely for their own political interest," said Najib.

He said the programme today clearly showed that the 1Malaysia concept was appreciated because although it was a Chap Goh Mei and Gong Xi Fa Chai celebration, it was attended by the various races.Najib also touched on the ang pow or red packet which, he said, was popular among the peoeple. "I would also like to receive the ang pow. But my ang pow is in the form of support for the BN when the time comes," added the prime minister.
