Rosmah hands over donation to Turkish embassy

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 — Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, today handed over a Malaysian people’s contribution of US$45,000 (RM149,709) for the families of the nine Turks killed during an Israeli raid on a humanitarian aid ship bound for Gaza on May 31.

The nine had been on the Turkish ship “Mavi Marmara” which was part of the Freedom Flotilla stopped by the Israelis. Rosmah presented the donation to the Turkish ambassador to Malaysia, Serap Attay, at the prime minister’s private residence in Langgak Duta, here. Rosmah said each of the families would be given US$5,000 (RM16,634). She said the Israeli regime would no longer be bold enough to attack Gaza-bound aid ships following the May 31 incident as the whole world had come to know of their conduct and strongly condemned it. “The world knows that their (Israeli regime’s) intention of boarding the Gaza-bound humanitarian aid ships is not merely to inspect the goods and activists on board,” he said.
Rosmah advised Malaysian activists who wanted to go to Gaza to exercise caution.
