Cabinet to table motion condemning Israel

The cabinet today resolved to table a motion at the Dewan Rakyat to strongly condemn the attack by Israeli security forces on a ship carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza.The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement that the motion would be tabled on Monday.


Yesterday, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said Malaysia would propose that the attack and violence committed by Israel be raised at the United Nations (UN) Security Council meeting.
He had also instructed Wisma Putra to rescue all the Malaysian nationals affected.Bernama, meanwhile, has reported that Foreign Minister Anifah Aman left for Jordan this morning to receive the 12 Malaysian nationals detained by Israel on Monday after its troops attacked the ship that they were travelling on arrive earlier today.The Malaysians were together with international volunteers on their way to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza.Of the ten, two journalists with the Astro Awani cable television station were on board the Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara.
Up to 19 volunteers - mostly Turkish nationals - were reported to have been killed by the Israeli naval commandoes after the latter boarded the ship.Israel, which was severely criticised by the international community, is in the process of deporting all 682 volunteers from 35 countries who were detained during the incident.
