MIC Youth lodges report over ‘pariah’ remark

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC has lodged a police report against an online commentator who called Kampung Buah Pala residents “Indians with pariah mentality”.Its Youth press chief, K Novinthen, who was accompanied by three other members, lodged the report at the Jalan Travers police station at 3pm here today.“Two days ago, a commentator who goes by the name of Jason Loh Seong Wei referred to the nine families still residing in Kampung Buah Pala as 'Indians with pariah mentality'.

“The comment was made on the Facebook page of Satees Muniandy, who is Penang Deputy Chief Minister P Ramasamy's special officer,” said Novinthen.Dismissing the notion that it was a trivial matter, Novinthen said the issue was serious as it touched the raw nerves of the Indian community.“The comment was made on the Facebook page of a high-ranking officer,” said Novinthen who is also Taman OUG MIC Youth chief.

Taking a swipe at the DAP, he asked why Satees and the Penang DAP did not do anything to address the matter.“I even tried to contact Satees but received no response. I believe it's another attempt by the state DAP to perpetuate divide-and-rule policy in Penang,”claimed Novinthen. He urged the police to take firm action against the commentator to serve a lesson to irresponsible online commentators.'Many think that they can write anything online and get away with it. I hope the police can nab the perpetrator,”he said.
