PETALING JAYA: A 16-year-old boy went missing the night he was to follow the Thaipusam chariot with his father.
The boy's father, R. Mahadhevan, a 49-year-old mechanic told journalists today that M. Jethendran (pic) went missing on Friday evening after visiting a gymnasium at Taman Desa.
"He went to the gym at about 2pm. At 3.45pm he called his mother to tell her he was returning home in a taxi and that he would arrive at about 4.30pm. That was the last time we heard from him."
"We were supposed to go see the Thaipusam chariot procession that night," said Mahathevan.
He said he called the gym and all of his son's friends that evening, and even viewed CCTV videos from nearby shops adjacent to the gymnasium.
"They all confirmed that he was at the gym and left at about 3.30pm. The videos showed him walking down the block towards the corner, but that was all that it showed," said Mahathevan.
Mahathevan is sure that Jethendran did not run away from home. He is described as being a quiet boy who is an avid sportsman and have lots of friends.
