Sore Indons hack Malaysian sites

PETALING JAYA: Indonesian hackers have attacked Malaysian websites after their country lost in a football match. The hacked sites include that of Universiti Teknologi Mara, an online furniture directory and the image gallery of a secondary school in Pekan, Pahang.Even an online directory on pet dogs was not spared from the Indonesian cyber wrath.

A group known as “kaMtiEz” has claimed responsibility for the attacks, which appear to be targeting websites with the “.my” suffix.Last Sunday, Malaysia defeated Indonesia 3-0 in the first leg final of the AFF Suzuki Cup at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

Unfortunately, many Indonesians did not take this news well.A barrage of fury erupted on Twitter, accusing Malaysian fans of deliberately aiming laser beams at the Indonesian players. The Indonesians have claimed that the beams caused their national team to lose.

The sites were first spotted as part of a list on the Indonesian Facebook group, "Gerakan 1,000,000 Kaskuser Untuk Menghancurkan Malaysia”.The group's picture shows the Malaysian flag engulfed in flames, with the words "Ganyang Malaysia!" in the middle.

The group also claimed that Malaysia was being investigated by the International Football Federation (Fifa) over its recent football victories. It added that if there was enough evidence collected against the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Malaysia would be fined a total of “40 million dollars” and barred from the international arena for four years.

This was not the first time Malaysian websites have been hacked by Indonesian groups. On Dec 20, hackers defaced the Yayasan 1Malaysia website, replacing its front page with the "Ganyang Malaysia!" (destroy Malaysia) slogan.
